			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The most typical question customers ask when purchasing a new projector for the home, office, or classroom is: do I purchase an LCD projector or a DLP projector? LCD, short for ‘liquid crystal device’ and DLP, which stands for ‘digital light processing’ are the two top projector imaging technologies. With so many business brands and models available, it can be confusing for the buyer to make a choice between these technologies. Ultimately LCD projectors give superior image quality and colour accuracy. The article below explains why DLP projectors struggle with bringing up the same standard of image quality.</p>
<p>Imagine a set of blinds in your room covering your bedroom window. By pulling a rod you can turn the shutters open or closed, depending on if you want to let light in or not. And this is exactly how an LCD projector behaves. Each pixel functions like a single shutter on a set of blinds to either send light through or to block it. DLP on the other hand is made up of millions of microscopic mirrors or ‘pixel elements’ as pros like to call them. Each pixel element functions to either reflect light or block it.</p>
<p>How the light source is processed from the point at which the projector turns on to when the picture reaches your screen is extremely important in regard to image quality, brightness and colour accuracy. LCD projectors shine white light from the lamp by dividing it into red, blue and green components, by three mirrors which transfer the coloured light to 3 stand alone LCD panels. The 3 LCD panels cast the elements of the image by switching each pixel on and off. The pixels are then projected in a glass prism to send the projector image. A significant point to understad about LCD projectors is that all three colours are sent onto your wall all at once. The way a DLP projector works is totally different and even the way an image appears is not the same. With DLP, white light from the lamp is projected through a spinning colour wheel with transparent red, blue and green segments, at speeds up to 11,000 rpm/s. This approach to projecting an image requires a sequence of red, blue and green light. The millions of micro mirrors as described above reflect the coloured light on the pixels to form the image elements. The elements of the image are sent in sequence on the screen, one colour at a time. The viewer&#8217;s eyes will then put together each coloured element of the image into the single full image. In LCD projectors, all colours are available all the time to deliver high brightness and superb colour accuracy. In DLP, only one colour is available at once, and so resulting in lower colour brightness and accuracy. Some DLP manufacturers have put a white segment in the colour wheel to improve brightness generally, but this goes and detracts from colour accuracy.</p>
<p>I find in forums all the time that DLP has a higher contrast ratio and as such must be better. For those who are uncertain, the contrast ratio is a measure of a display system defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest white to that of the darkest black that the technology is able to produce. DLP projectors do have high contrast specifications in comparison to many LCD projectors. Initially, this can seem to be a plus, however, in real life, the true black level is determined by the ambient light in the room in which the projector is used. Do not be hoodwinked by contrast specifications on websites and in brochures.</p>
<p>When the content you plan to see requires moving images, DLP projection technology can also create image marks, or ‘artifacts’. The most often seen artifact that a DLP projector creates with moving images is colour break up. Colour break up is unavoidable in DLP systems because moving images change between the time red, blue and green colours are projected. LCD projectors do not have this characteristic because all colours are sent simultaneously. DLP developers have formed 3DLP solutions using 3 chips to solve the colour break up problem, but the price of these projectors make them hardly practical for the majority of businesses and consumers.</p>
<p>Another difference between LCD and DLP is how they match the balance for the refractive qualities of light. Think back to high school science, and remember how different colours of light refract varied amounts when shone through the same lens. The downfall with DLP projectors is that they have the one same panel for the same lens to project Red, Blue and Green. All 3 colours are not the same and refract light at different levels. Often with a DLP projector, a superfluous yellow colour will show above and some extra blue will come up below something as simple as a single black line. In manufacturing LCD projectors can be fixed to reduce these effects on the projected image, because each colour is processed on its own LCD panels.</p>
<p>The only true plus (excluding price) with buying a DLP projector is its smaller size and weight. However, this is only relevant with regard to transporting the device and must be traded off against the image superiority of LCD projectors. If overall picture quality is vital to you, then the decision is simple. Go for an LCD projector! LCD projectors will definitely produce bright, colourful images with fewer image blips. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the Dutch came to dominance in sea power during the 17th century, the first yacht had been a pleasure craft used first by royalty and later by the burghers for the canals as well as the protected and unprotected waters of the Low Countries. Racing was incidental, arising as private games. English yachting started with King Charles II of England during his exile in the Low Countries. On his restoration to the English throne in 1660, the city of Amsterdam gave him a 20-metre (66-foot) pleasure boat with a beam (maximum width) of 5.6 m (18 feet), which he named Mary. Charles and his brother James, the duke of York (James II, sovereign 1685–88), ordered for other yachts and in 1662 raced two of them from the Thames, from Greenwich, to Gravesend, and returning, on a Â£100 wager. Yachting was found to be fashionable for the affluent and aristocracy, but after that point the trend did not last.</p>
<p>The first yacht association in the British Isles, the Water Club, was formed around about 1720 at Cork, Ire., as a cruising and unofficial coast guard group, and held large naval panoply and formality. The closest thing to racing was the “chase,” in which the “fleet” pursued an imagined enemy. The club endured, mostly as a social club, until 1765, and in 1828, after conglomerating with other clubs, it became the Cork Yacht Club (later the Royal Cork Yacht Club).</p>
<p>Yacht racing was seen in some stipulated fashion on the Thames in the mid-18th century. The duke of Cumberland funded the Cumberland Fleet for Thames racing in 1775. When George IV ascended to sovereignty in 1820, it came to be known as the Fleet to His Majesty&#8217;s Coronation Sailing Society. The Thames Yacht Club seceded following a racing argument, to become the Royal Thames Yacht Club in 1830. The first English yacht organisation had been initiated at Cowes on the Isle of Wight in 1815, and royal patronage made the Solent - the strait between the mainland and the Isle of Wight - the continued setting of British yachting. The organisation at Cowes became the Royal Yachting Club, also at the rise of George IV. Each member was required to have boats of at least 20 tons (20,321 kg). Sailing tests for great bets were held, and the social life was superlative. It came to be that the Royal Yachting Club boats grew in size to more than 350 tons.</p>
<p>In North America, yachting started with the Dutch in New York in the 17th century and went on when the English had control. Sailing was mostly for fun and rose to its apogee in George Crowinshield&#8217;s Cleopatra&#8217;s Barge (1815), which traveled on the Mediterranean Sea and established a benchmark of luxury and elegance for the later yachts in the area from the late 19th century. The first persisting American yacht organisation, the Detroit Boat Club, was instigated in 1839. In 1844, John C. Stevens founded the New York Yacht Club while aboard his schooner Gimcrack.</p>
<p><strong>Kinds of sailboats<br /></strong>Early sailing yachts followed the design of such naval craft as brigantines, schooners, and cutters from the 17th century through the latter half of the 19th century. The style of bigger yachts was initially greatly impacted by the success of America, which was drawn by George Steers for a syndicate headed by John C. Stevens, and it was the boat for which the America&#8217;s Cup (q.v.) was named after its victory at Cowes in 1851. Earlier yachts were not designed and built in a contemporary sense, with only a model used. Not until the second half of the 19th century did what was called naval architecture come about. Not until the 1920s did the application of the study of aerodynamics do for the structure of sails and rigging what such study had already done for hulls.</p>
<p>Because most of all sailboats had to be individually manufactured, there arose a need for handicapping boats as this was previous to the one-design class boats were made. Hence, a rating rule came into being, which ended up in the International Rule, adopted in 1906 and revised in 1919. In modern times, one of the fastest blossoming areas in the field of sailing is that of one-design class boats. All boats in a one-design class are created to single requirements in length, beam, sail area, and other elements (for an example of a two-person sailboat, see illustration). Racing these boats can be done on an even basis with no handicapping required. A great example is the uniform International America&#8217;s Cup Class taken on board for yachts in the 1992 America&#8217;s Cup race.</p>
<p>As long as yachting belonged largely for the royal and the wealthy, money was no issue, and the size of boats grew, in both length and weight. The promotion and desire of smaller boats happened in the second half of the 19th century from the sailing of the Englishmen R.T. McMullen, a stockbroker, and E.F. Knight, a barrister and journalist. A journey around the world (1895–98) sailed single-handedly by the naturalized American captain Joshua Slocum in the 11.3-metre Spray made plain the value of smaller craft. Thereafter in the 20th century, notably after World War II, smaller racing and recreational craft became commonplace, down to the dinghy, a popular training boat, of 3.7 m. In the late 20th century, boats of less than 3 m were setting sail single-handedly across the Atlantic Ocean.</p>
<p><strong>Kinds of power yachts<br /></strong>Following the decade 1840–50, when steam started to emulate sail power in public boats, the steam engine, and later the internal-combustion engine, were increasingly employed in pleasure boats. Sizeable power yachts were progressed to a high degree, and long-distance sailing was a fond activity of the well off. The earliest power yachts were paddle-wheel boats; these then made way to those powered by the wholly submerged screw or propeller kind of propulsion. As in the case of naval and merchant yachts, auxiliaries carrying both sail and power were the yacht fashion for several years. By the later half of the 20th century, many yachts were still auxiliaries, but the large part were exclusively power yachts that had gasoline or diesel engines.</p>
<p>From the last decade of the 19th century there was a push in the construction of bigger steam yachts. In particular within these was the Mayflower (1897) of 2,690 tons, containing triple-expansion engines, twin screws, and a compartmented iron hull, and was sailed by a crew of more than 150. The Mayflower, bought by the United States Navy in 1898, was the official yacht of the president of the United States until 1929 and saw active service for World War II.</p>
<p>As larger and better quality internal-combustion engines were created, many big craft started using them for power. The development of the diesel engine, employing heavy oil for fuel, was furthered for World War I. In the decade after that, bigger power-yacht creation grew, climaxing in the Orion (1930) at 3,097 tons. In that period the largest auxiliary yacht manufactured was the four-masted, steel, barque-rigged Sea Cloud (1931) of 2,323 tons.</p>
<p>The building of large power craft declined in 1932, and the style after that was in preference of smaller, less expensive craft. From World War II, a lot of small naval craft were bought by private owners for conversion to yachts. In the late 20th century, yachting has become a internationally loved competition enjoyed by thousands of yachtsmen individually manning and maintaining their own small pleasure boats. The popularity of yachts and owners increased steadily, not only in the traditional areas along the sea but also on inland waterways and lakes.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Taxes are distinguished by the effect they have on the placement of income and wealth. A proportional tax is one that imposes the same relative burden on all taxpayers—i.e., where tax liability and income move in relative proportion. A progressive tax is characterized by a higher than proportional rise in the tax onus in regard to the growth in income, and a regressive tax is recognisable by a less than proportional growth in the comparative onus. Hence, progressive taxes are seen as removing a lack of equality in income distribution, while regressive taxes can have the result of an increase in these inequalities.</p>
<p>The taxes that are normally believed to be progressive include individual income taxes and estate taxes. Income taxes that are categorically progressive, however, could become less so for the upper-income class—particularly if a taxpayer is allowed to lessen his tax base by nominating deductions or by removing particular income parts from his taxable income. Proportional tax rates when applied to lower-income demographics will also be more progressive if such personal exemptions are made.</p>
<p>Income measured over the period of a year may not necessarily provide the most suitable measure of taxpaying requirement. For example, transitory growth in income can be saved, and in temporary declines in income a taxpayer may elect to pay for consumption by decreasing savings. So, if taxation is compared along with “permanent income,” it can be less regressive (or more progressive) than if compared with annual income.</p>
<p>Sales taxes and excises (with the exception of luxuries) are usually regressive, because the spread of one&#8217;s income consumed or spent for a specific good declines as the amount of personal income rises. Poll taxes (also known as head taxes), nominated as a fixed amount per capita, patently are regressive.</p>
<p>It is not easy to classify corporate income taxes and taxes on business as progressive, regressive, or proportionate, principally because of uncertainty about the ability of businesses to shift their tax expenses (see below Shifting and incidence). This difficulty of deciding who bears the tax burden is dependant essentially on whether a national or a subnational (that is, provincial or state) tax is being determined.</p>
<p>In assessing the economic purpose of taxation, it is relevant to differentiate between various ideas of tax rates. The statutory rates are those dictated in the law; usually these are marginal rates, but in some cases they are mean rates. Marginal income tax rates denote the fraction of incremental income that is demanded by taxation when income is increased by one dollar. Hence, if tax burden rises by 45 cents when income grows by one dollar, the marginal tax rate is 45 percent. Income tax regulations generally contain graduated marginal rates—i.e., rates that grow as income rises. Structured analysis of marginal tax rates should take into account provisions in addition to the formal statutory rate structure. If, for example, a particular tax credit (reduction in tax) falls by 20 cents for each one-dollar growth in income, the marginal rate is 20 percentage points greater than specified in the statutory rates. Since marginal rates indicate how after-tax income increases or decreases in response to changes in before-tax income, they are the important ones for regarding incentive effects of taxation. It is even more difficult to realise the marginal effective tax rate to apply to income from business and capital, since it may depend on considerations such as the structure of depreciation allowances, the deductibility of interest, and the provisions for inflation adjustment. A basic economic theorem grants that the marginal effective tax rate in income from capital is zero under a consumption-based tax.</p>
<p>Average income tax rates determine the percentage of total income that is required in taxation. The pattern of average rates is the one that is relevant for judging the distributional equity of taxation. Under a progressive income tax the average income tax rate rises with income. Average income tax rates commonly rise with income, both because personal allowances are provided for the taxpayer and dependents and because marginal tax rates are graduated; conversely, preferential treatment of income received mostly by high-income households may dwarf these effects, forcing regressivity, as shown by average tax rates that decrease as income rises.</p>
